Create a panel along the U axis

Use this procedure to create a new plane panel at a specified offset from an existing panel by using the existing panel’s Local Coordinate System (LCS).

Prerequisites

• Create a panel.

  

Create a panel referenced to another panel along the U axis

1. In the 3D View, select the Use LCS icon .

   The Select Objects prompt appears.

2. Select the panel you want to refer to.

   The coordinate system appears at the panel origin.

   

3. On the Hull Design tab, in the Create group, select Panel.

4. In the sub-menu, select Plane.

   In the 3D View, the Select grid along X prompt appears.

5. Press the Down Arrow key.

   Additional options appear.

   

6. Select Plane (P).

   A plane is created on the W axis of the referenced panel LCS, and the Distance along W axis prompt appear.

7. Press the Down Arrow key.

   New options appear.

8. Select U.

   A plane is created on the U axis of the referenced panel LCS, and the Distance along U axis prompt appear.

9. Enter a distance in mm, for example, 1000.

   A new panel is created 1000 mm along the U axis from the initial panel. If you add an element, for example, a stiffener, to this panel, it refers automatically to the initial panel's LCS.
