Automatically assigns position numbers to selected parts.

Settings & Scope

The Settings and Scope tab allows you to define the following automatic position numbering settings:

  • Configuration

  • Prefix/Suffix

  • Parts to be assigned

  • Position numbers to update

  • Comparison

  • Insert mode

  • Scope of elements

The settings persist between sessions.

Configuration

Displays a dropdown list of available Auto Pos configurations for selection. For more information, see Auto Pos configuration.

Prefix

Specifies a prefix for the position number. The maximum length of the prefix is 10 characters. Do not include special characters.

Suffix

Specifies a suffix for the position number. The maximum length of the suffix is 10 characters. Do not include special characters.

Parts to be assigned Position Numbers

Assigns position numbers to specific part types.

You can assign position numbers for Plates, Stiffeners, Brackets, Doublers, Flanges, Clips, and Pillars. Select the required checkboxes.

Position numbers to update

Select Empty to update parts without existing position numbers.

Select Already set to update parts with existing position numbers.

Comparison

Specifies the level at which the comparison of identical parts takes place. Independent of the selected scope, all elements within the selected level are considered during the comparison if a position number is already assigned.

By default, the value is set to None. In this case, all elements are assigned a unique position number.

Insert Mode

Specifies the automatic position number for the part.

Select At End to assign the next number in the sequence.

Select Between to assign an unused number in the sequence (for example, after deleting parts).

Current Element

Displays the name of the element you have selected in the Model Explorer.

Add

Adds the current element to the scope grid.

Alternatively, you can drag and drop an element from the Model Explorer to the scope grid.

Scope Grid

Displays the elements that are included in the automatic position numbering process.

Right-click on the selected elements to display a dropdown menu.

Process

Assigns position numbers to selected elements in the scope grid.

Indicates the processed element.

The results display on the Position Assignments tab.

Remove

Removes the currently selected elements from the scope grid.

Navigate to

Navigates to the selected element in the Model Explorer. The functionality is only available when a single element is selected.

Remove all

Removes all elements from the scope grid.

Process

Assigns position numbers to all parts in the scope grid.

Indicates the processed elements.

The results display on the Position Assignments tab.

Store

Stores the automatic position number on the part in the database.

Position Assignments

The Position Assignments tab displays the results of the automatic position numbering process.

Scope

Displays the scope used to assign the position numbers, if one was selected.

Name

Displays the element name.

Type

Displays the element type.

New Pos

Displays the new position number.

Old Pos

Displays the old position number, if one was previously assigned.

Right-click on a selected element to display a dropdown menu.

Navigate to

Navigates to the selected element in the Model Explorer.
