Understand the Hole function

With the Hole function on the Part Editor tab, in the Create group, you can create holes on the part in the 2D view.
When you select Hole, the Common Interaction Engine (CIE) tool opens. You can interactively define, position, and rotate a marking. Move the pointer over the part in the 2D view to display a prompt.

You can define the hole location in either of the following ways:

Entering coordinates:
Enter the X and Y coordinates in the prompt. The coordinates are referenced to the global origin.

Picking a location:
Select a location directly in the 2D view.
Select Enter to confirm the entries or the selection. To display additional prompt options, select the Down Arrow key.

Designation (D)
The default designation is D600, which defines a circular hole with a diameter of 600 mm.
Enter a predefined hole designation. For more information, refer to Standard Holes in General Information for Marine.
For example, HO200*50 defines an oval hole with a length of 200 mm and a width of 50 mm.
If the designation is invalid, an error message appears in the User Messages window.

XY Position (X)
You have various prosibilities to use the positioning of the label by.

Enter coordinates.

Pick a location.

Define a single hole:

Enter an X value and press Enter.

Enter a Y value and press Enter.
The hole appears with a dashed outline at the specified location.

Define multiple holes:

Enter an X1 value and press Enter.

Enter a Y1 value and press Enter.

Repeat step 1 and 2 for each new hole.

The holes appear with a dashed outline at the specified locations. Holes are created only after you select F (Finish) and press Enter.
Angle (N)
Defines the rotation angle for non-circular holes.
Values between 0–90° or 180–270° create an upward-inclined hole.
Negative values, values between 90–180°, or values greater than 270°, create a downward-inclined hole.
Finish (F)
Creates holes using the specified designation, location, and angle.
When you select F and press Enter, the holes appear with solid outlines in the 2D view.
