Component Map

The Advanced tab can be used to compare component types. It enables you to add, modify and delete mappings between AVEVA E3D Design piping components and AVEVA Engineering P&ID classes. When any selected AVEVA E3D Design element type is mapped against any P&ID engineering class from the dropdown list of classes, the AVEVA E3D Design element ‘type’ is considered as the mapped engineering class. It is not listed as a difference in value for type/actype. For example, when the Actuated Valve class from the Conceptual Model is mapped to the INST type in AVEVA E3D Design, but the Actuated Valve is represented by a VALV element, a type comparison results in a data error.

1. Add new mapping

2. Modify existing mapping

3. Delete mapping

4. Add class element to the mapping list.

5. Remove class element from the mapping list.

6. Remove all class elements from mapping list.

Note:
An error is not flagged if nothing is mapped.
There is a limited number of types in AVEVA E3D Design to compare to the many list of classes in engineering. Only valve, instrument, flange, reducer, cap and filter can be mapped.
The engineering classes drop-down list displays all classes that are decorated as Piping Components.
When an AVEVA E3D Design element is mapped against a P&ID engineering class from the dropdown list of classes, the AVEVA E3D Design element type is deemed as a mapped engineering class and not listed as a difference in value for Type/Actype.
