Rules with functions

If the result of a rule is a Programmable Macro Language (PML) function, it is executed, and the result of the function is provided as the result of the rule.
The function must return a STRING value.
Rule functions can contain a special parameter <element>. For example:
!!TestFixingRule(<element>)
When the rule is run, the Rules Engine replaces the <element> parameter with a string parameter of the evaluating element’s reference number. The example shows the evaluating element =2013286748/65241:
!!TestFixingRule('=2013286748/65241')
This allows the evaluating element to be queried within a rule function.
Note:
The Rule Value (RVALUE) element that contains the function must have its purpose set
to FUNC to use this feature.
There is a performance impact related to running rules with PML functions. The impact can be noticeable if hundreds of rules with functions are run at the same time. In these scenarios, if possible, try to construct rules using only the built-in rule logic.
