In the s60028 Stock item Delivery Registration screen, when you receive materials into stock, you can create material instances to define material detail preferences for different quantities of the same material. For example, if you receive 20 units of a material called PipeA, you can create material instance 201 for 10 units and assign certificate C1, and material instance 202 for the remaining 10 units with certificate C2.
Later, in the s21001 Delivery Request List screen, when you add the same material PipeA to the Delivery Request List (DRL), you can set material detail preferences for the material by linking the material to the required material instance, if needed. The material detail preferences determine which material instance is used when the materials are reserved or picked for the DRL item.
Use the d0359 Set Material Preferences dialog to:
-
apply unique preferences to one DRL item at a time.
-
apply shared preferences to multiple DRL items at a time.
To set material detail preferences, ensure the status of the DRL is O-DRL (DRL Not Completed). You can also set material detail preferences using the fields available in the Material Detail Preferences tab, in the Line Item grid. For more information on the fields, see s21001 Field descriptions.
-
Navigate to the s21001 Delivery Request List screen.
-
To refresh the screen, select the F5 key.
-
In the Delivery Request List grid, select a row.

All Line Items: To apply shared material detail preferences such as Expiry Date, Custom Properties, and Remark to all the items in the DRL.
-
Selected Line Items only: To set material detail preferences only for selected materials. If you select one item, you can apply all the available material preferences for the item. However, if you select more than one item, you can only apply shared preferences such as Expiry Date, Custom Properties, and Remark to the selected items because all the preferences in both the Material Details section and the Certificate section are unique to each item in the DRL.
