A system breakdown structure consists of connected levels and the systems related to the levels. A system breakdown structure can have multiple levels (hierarchy structure) or no levels (flat structure).
Hierarchy structure
A hierarchy structure consists of multiple levels within a level. You can relate a system to each level. You can view the costs for each system individually. At the parent level, you can view the cost of all the systems related to the parent level and the child levels.
Flat structure
A flat structure consists of only one level. You can relate all the systems to the level. You can view the cost for each system individually. You can also view the sum of costs for the entire project at the level.
