Split an RFQ position

  • Last UpdatedMay 07, 2026

Split a Request For Quote (RFQ) position into multiple positions to split the required quantity.

You can split an RFQ position to allow the suppliers to deliver the full requested quantity in multiple batches, potentially at different unit prices and delivery times. For example, if a supplier cannot deliver 10 units of WIDGET-A in a single batch, you can create two split positions:

  • One split position to deliver two units in two months at unit price X.

  • Another split position to deliver the remaining eight units three months later at unit price Y.

For the RFQ, in the Request for Quotation grid, in the General tab, ensure the Pre-awarded checkbox is cleared.

  1. Navigate to the s50020 Followup on Request for Quote screen.

  2. To refresh the screen, select the F5 key.

  3. In the Request for Quotation grid, select a row.

  4. In the Details grid, perform the following:

    1. Select the Quote tab, in the Supplier grid, select a row.

    2. In the Positions grid, select the Positions tab.

    3. In the Positions grid, select the RFQ position you want to split.

  5. Select the Position Split tab and select anywhere in the Position Split grid.

  6. On the Home menu, in the Record group, select Create.

In the Position Split grid, a row is created.

  7. In the Quoted Qty field, enter the required value.

Note: If you want to create multiple split positions for the selected RFQ position, repeat step 6. You can manually distribute the quoted quantity between the split positions. Ensure the value in the Quoted Qty field in the Positions grid is equal to the sum of the values in the Quoted Qty fields of all the split positions in the Position Split grid.

  8. (Optional) Enter the relevant details in other fields as required. For more information on all the fields, see s50020 Field descriptions.

  9. To save the changes, on the Home menu, in the Record group, select Save.
