A cost account breakdown structure consists of connected levels and the cost accounts related to the levels. A cost account breakdown structure can have multiple levels (hierarchy structure) or no levels (flat structure).
Hierarchy structure
A hierarchy structure consists of multiple levels within a level. You can relate a cost account to each level. You can view the costs for each cost account individually. At the parent level, you can view the cost of all the cost accounts related to the parent level and the child levels.
Flat structure
A flat structure consists of only one level. You can relate all the cost accounts to the level. You can view the cost for each cost account individually. You can also view the sum of costs for the entire project at the level.
