Add a default first position number for a line type

Add a default first position number for a line type to use in procurement documents. You can use the first position of the line types to set intervals between the line types. For example, in a procurement document, you can set position number increments of a regular line type to start from 1, 2, 3, and so on, and a miscellaneous line type to start from 9000, 9001, 9002, and so on.

You can only set the first position number of a line type, not the last position number. According to the first position number, the line items of a line type can move into an interval of another line type. For example, a procurement document has 99 miscellaneous line items, if the first position of a miscellaneous line type is set at 1 and a non-deliverable line type is set at 100, then an addition of two non-deliverable line items take position numbers 100 and 101. If a new material line item is added, the position number of the material line item is set at 102.

If you set the same first position number for different line types, the items of the line types start at the same position number. Ensure you have the Write UI right for the s10023 Procurement Position Number Setup screen. For more information, see Assign UI rights to a user role.

  1. Navigate to the s10023 Procurement Position Number Setup screen.

  2. To refresh the screen, select the F5 key.

  3. Select anywhere in the Default Position No Segments section.

  6. (Optional) Enter the relevant details in other fields as required. For more information on all the fields, see s10023 Field descriptions.
