Use a standard unit to specify the unit of measurement for a material. Additionally, you can use a standard unit when you perform transactions on materials. For example, in the s50016 Technical Material Requisition screen, you can use PCS as the standard unit to specify the number of pieces ordered in a TMR position.

  1. Navigate to the s00010 Standard Units screen.

  2. To refresh the screen, select the F5 key.

  3. On the Home menu, in the Record group, select Create.

In the Standard Units grid, a blank row is created.

  4. Select the General tab and perform the following:

    1. In the Unit of Measure field, enter the unique code of a standard unit.

    2. In the Unit Name field, enter the name of the standard unit.

    3. From the Standard Unit dropdown, select the code of a standard unit.

For a unit of measure, if the value in the Coefficient field is 1, then the unit of measure is considered as a standard unit.

    4. In the Coefficient field, enter a value to indicate the relative measure of a Standard Unit compared to a Unit of Measure.

For example, if the value in the Unit of Measure field is KG, to define a conversion from kilograms to grams, select G from the Standard Unit dropdown and enter 1000 in the Coefficient field.

Additionally, to define a unit of measure as a standard unit, ensure the value in the Coefficient field is 1.

    5. From the Category dropdown, select the ID of a category related to a standard unit.

  5. (Optional) Enter the relevant details in other fields as required. For more information on all the fields, see s00010 Field descriptions.

  6. On the Home menu, in the Record group, select Save.

    The standard unit is created.
