Create a material summary purpose

Use a material summary purpose to categorize different material summaries. Additionally, you can use a material summary purpose to determine the following:

• Whether you can use a material summary for requisitioning.

• Whether you can apply working surplus or contingency rules to a material summary.

• Whether you have to split the material summaries by an engineering discipline.

• The type of validations required for the material take-offs and part lists assigned to a material summary.

By default, a material summary purpose is available for use across all projects. To use a material summary purpose in a specific project, you can define the project for the material summary purpose.

1. Navigate to the s21025 Material Summary Purposes screen.

2. To refresh the screen, select the F5 key.

3. On the Home menu, in the Record group, select Create.

   In the Purposes grid, a blank row is created.

4. Select the General tab, in the Id field, enter the unique ID of a material summary purpose related to a project.

5. (Optional) Enter the relevant details in other fields as required. For more information on all the fields, see s21025 Field descriptions.

6. On the Home menu, in the Record group, select Save.

   The material summary purpose is created.
