Architecture considerations

The general recommendations for an architecture are as follows:
Licensing
For a customer with an AVEVA License Server (ALS) service already running it is recommended to extend the existing license file to include the AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management licenses.
For a customer running the older, stand-alone FlexMan product for licensing other AVEVA products, install a new ALS service hosting license for AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management, and for the other products continue to use FlexMan services unchanged. Alternatively, install both AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management licenses and the existing FlexMan license file of the customer onto a new ALS service. A new ALS license service is required in any case.
For a customer new to AVEVA products, install ALS on any robust server within the LAN.
Note: The AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management Application Server is recommended where AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management is the only application present.
AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management is tested with ALS 1.x, ALS 2.0 and ALS 4.2.
Static IP Address
Configure database server and application server with a static IP address (for any production server). For Off-Network installations and support for DHCP review the Oracle documentation for details.
