AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management

Update an external material status

  • Last UpdatedMay 07, 2026
  • 2 minute read

Update the code and description of a predefined external material status. The updates do not affect the functionality of the external material statuses in AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management. The s20008 External Material Status screen contains four predefined status codes:

  • P (Preliminary): Indicates the default status of a material. At the preliminary stage, the material is not available for use throughout AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management.

  • V (Fully Validated): Indicates the material is available for use throughout AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management.

  • N (Not To Be Used): Indicates the material is not available for use due to a temporary restriction (the supply of materials is restricted or alternatives are being evaluated) or a permanent hold (the material is obsolete). If the material is already assigned to a Part List (PL) or a Purchase Order (PO), you can continue to use the material. However, the material is not available for addition to any new PL or PO.

  • D (Ready For Deletion): Indicates you can delete the material in case a clean up of the reference data is performed. At the ready for deletion stage, the material is not available for use throughout AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management.

You cannot add or delete an external material status code.

  1. Navigate to the s20008 External Material Status screen.

  2. To refresh the screen, select the F5 key.

  3. In the External Material Status grid, select a row.

  4. Select the General tab and update the relevant details in the following fields:

    • Code: The unique code of an external material status.

    • Description: The description of the external material status code.

  5. To save the changes, on the Home menu, in the Record group, select Save.
