Understanding general PubSub system messages

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 1 minute read

The PubSub Engine logs state information for each of its peer engines to the oasErrLog.log file. Some of the most common messages and their meanings include the following:

Log File Message

Description

New peer recognized

A peer engine has started or resumed broadcasting messages.

Machine declared dead

A peer engine was shut down or has stopped broadcasting.

Invalid RETX request

A peer engine has requested some messages be retransmitted due to a receive failure. However, the requested starting message is no longer available. The number of available messages is related directly to the size of the transfer queue, which is a circular buffer where messages are cached for transmission. This size is a system property that can be increased from the Network Management Console (NMC).
