Define a privilege record

The following steps outline the process of defining privilege records.

About this task

Each privilege record requires a name, dataset, system, and mode. The privilege’s attributes you will need to determine are: owns, control, configure, alarm, event, accumulate, and collect. All are set with a yes or a no, except alarms. Alarms can have three settings in privilege records: flash, store, and ignore. To determine what this setting should be, refer to a verbal description of the mode.

  1. Provide a unique name in the name field.

  2. Enter the name of the dataset in which the point is contained.

  3. Enter the name of the system that is being configured.

  4. Enter the name of the mode to which the privilege record belongs.

  5. Determine the corresponding privilege settings for the record.

At this point, the material for each of the privilege records has been defined. This data can be entered using the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) if you desire. Alternatively, this data can be loaded using the dbll command. To use the dbll command, the data must be in a text file in a tab-separated-variable (TSV) format.
