Email Alarm Notification

This application automatically sends email messages to defined recipients when specific measurement or AVEVA Enterprise SCADA alarms occur. To send the email, the application uses a connection to a corporate SMTP email server from the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA LAN.

The configuration procedure for the application is as follows:

  • Create email notification recipients.

  • Create email notification distribution lists.

  • Add email recipients to a notification distribution list.

  • Configure keyword filters to have the application send notifications in regards to only certain types of database alarms.

  • Configure alarm notifications for flow computer events.

  • (Optional) Configure the system to use an abbreviated version of the host name in certain types of email messages.

  • Configure the description used in the subject line for AVEVA Enterprise SCADA and non-AVEVA Enterprise SCADA points.

  • Configure analog, status, rate, multistate, and tank points for email alarm notification.

  • Modify the contents of the email's subject line and body, if desired.

Relationship between Email Alarm Notification and On Call

The Email Alarm Notification application allows you to create email notification recipients, and add them to email notification distribution lists (alertGroups). These alertGroups are then associated with selected telemetered points. When one of these telemetered points enters an alarm state configured for email alarm notification, all recipients belonging to the alertGroup receive the alarm.

In the On Call application, one can create contacts and associate them with either certain stations or all stations in the system. When any point at a station enters an alarm condition, all on-call contacts associated with the station receive either an email, or, if using a customer-supplied email to an SMS gateway, a text message.

Note: The default configuration settings for both applications are located in the RealTime silo's Email_Configuration.json file.
