Monitor the Network Delivery Layer (NDL)

  • Last UpdatedJul 05, 2024
  • 1 minute read

The Network Delivery Layer (NDL) is responsible for messages broadcast across the network, between the local PubSub Engine and its peer engines. Statistics for this delivery layer are disabled by default. Once enabled, they are published approximately every ten seconds.

To enable publication of NDL statistics, publish any kind of data to the pubsub.debug.ndl.debugon topic.

To disable publication of NDL statistics, publish any data to the pubsub.debug.ndl.debugoff topic.

To view the NDL statistics, use the MultiSubscriber tool to subscribe to the debugging topic pubsub.debug.ndl. The topics related to messages broadcast by the local PubSub Engine are prefixed with pubsub.debug.ndl.self and those received from a peer engine begin with pubsub.debug.ndl.peer.<IP>.

Where:

  • <IP> is the IP address of the peer.

The published information includes configuration settings, as well as the counts of messages sent and resent, and other information related to the NDL. All statistics are recorded from the perspective of the local PubSub Engine.

For more information, refer to PubSub debugging.
