You can use the alarm Category field on the Alarm Summary display to determine if an alarm is a state-based alarm. You can use message sets to configure the severity of the alarms with these categories. Alarms that do not fall into these categories on these tables are typically configured with Message Information (msgInfo) table entries.

The following is a list of categories that are typically used for state-based alarms:

Analog, flowTotalConfig, and Rate

  • hilo

  • user

  • roc (Rate of Change)

  • FLATLINE

  • Setpntcreep (Set Point Creep) โ€” for Analog points only

  • RR (Rate Reasonability) โ€” for Rate points only

Multistate and Status

  • Cos (Change of State)

Remote

  • RTUcomm (Remote Terminal Unit Communication)
