Note: For information on overriding default configuration settings, refer to Modify configuration settings.

The Alarm Severity Override feature allows you to configure regular expression (RegEx) patterns to match alarms and take actions against those alarms.

To limit the performance impact associated with evaluating a RegEx for every alarm, you can specify:

  • The RealTime database (RTDB) table associated with the alarm (for example, analog, status, or rate).

  • The name of the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA process from which the alarm emerged.

  • The name of the host that generated the alarm.

You can override the alarm severity for all alarm types (Application, System, Database).

With System alarms, you can also do the following:

  • Override the following additional information on the alarm:

    • The category of the alarm.

    • The group associated with the alarm.

    • The station associated with the alarm.

  • Either inhibit the alarm, or route it to a third-party application.

Note: You must configure AVEVA Enterprise SCADA using the RealTime_ConfigurableAlarmSeverity.json file to activate the configuration of Alarm Override. For more information, refer to Edit the RealTime_ConfigurableAlarmSeverity.json file.

For general information on ADE, and further information on the almSevOverride table, refer to the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation and AlmSevOverride table details, respectively.

To create an Alarm Override (almSevOverride) record

AlmSevOverride records are stored in the almSevOverride table, and are created and edited using the tabs on the almSevOverride Row Details dialog box within the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). For general information on ADE and how to create records, refer to the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation.
