Follow this procedure to configure a multistate point as a critical point. When the point enters an alarm state configured as critical, the application sends a Critical Alarm Active notification to easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS).

To configure a multistate point as a critical point

  1. Navigate to the message Table Edit dialog box in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE).

  2. Create a new message set.

  3. Navigate to the Main tab in the message Row Details dialog box for the state that triggers a critical alarm.

  4. In the State Severity field, select critical.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for all states in the message set that trigger a critical alarm.

For further information on message sets, refer to RealTime tables.

  6. Navigate to the Main tab in the multistate Row Edit dialog box for the point you want to configure as a critical point.

  7. In the Base Message field, select the newly created message set (message record).

  8. Navigate to the Alarming tab.

  9. Select Sustain COS Alarms.

  10. Select Critical Point.

  11. Select Abnormal States.

The Selected Abnormal States dialog box appears.

  12. Select the state that was configured as critical in step 4.
