Before you begin

Complete the steps in Identify the active set of alarm limits.

In the following procedure, an analog point is used as an example. The procedure is the same for rate and flowTotalConfig points. The Analog Alarm Limits dialog is opened through the Analog Control dialog. For information on the Analog Control dialog, see the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA HMI Controller documentation.

To view the attributes of active alternative limits

  1. Navigate to the Analog Alarm Limits dialog of an analog point whose alternative alarm limits are currently enabled.

  2. Select Limits Summary.

The Alternate Alarm Limits Summary window opens.

    Item

    Description

    Name

The name of the almlimit record.

    Description

A brief description of the almlimit record.

    State

The state of the associated multistate point that causes an analog, a rate, or a flowTotalConfig point to use the alternative alarm limits.

    Alarm Limit Set

The name of the almlimitset record that uses the alternative alarm limits configured in the almlimit record.

    Lo Lim Enabled

This field indicates whether or not Low alarm limits are enabled.

    Lo Lim

    The Low alarm limit.

    Hi Lim Enabled

This field indicates whether or not High alarm limits are enabled.

    Hi Lim

    The High alarm limit.

    LoLo Lim Enabled

This field indicates whether or not LowLow alarm limits are enabled.

    LoLo Lim

    The LowLow alarm limit.

    HiHi Lim Enabled

This field indicates whether or not HighHigh alarm limits are enabled.

    HiHi Lim

    The HighHigh alarm limit.

    Setpoint Low Lim

The lowest setpoint that can be issued.

    Setpoint High Lim

The highest setpoint that can be issued.

    ROC Lim Enabled

This field indicates whether or not the Rate of Change (ROC) alarm is enabled.

If the ROC exceeds the configured ROC limits, the system generates an alarm.

    ROC Lim

The maximum, positive allowable ROC (Engineering Units (EGUs) per second).

    ROC Method

The method used in calculating the ROC.

    Possible output:

    • baseline method

    • custom method

    Neg ROC

The maximum, negative allowable ROC (EGUs per second).

    ROC Time Interval (Sec)

The interval over which the system calculates the ROC.

    Creep Dev Lim Enabled

This field indicates whether or not the Creep Detection alarm is enabled.

If an analog, a rate, or a flowTotalConfig value creeps out of its calibrated state by a value that exceeds the Creep Dev Lim, the system generates an alarm.

    Creep Dev Lim

The maximum deviation value (EGUs) that is acceptable before calibration deteriorates.

    Spt Creep Dev Enab

This field indicates whether or not the Setpoint Creep alarm is enabled.

When the current value of an analog point deviates too far from the commanded setpoint, the system generates an alarm.

    Spt Creep Dev Lim

When the current value of an analog point deviates this much beyond the commanded setpoint, the system generates an alarm.

    Flatline Enab

This field indicates whether or not Flatline Alarming is enabled. If an analog, a rate, or a flowTotalConfig point value does not change within the Flatline Timeout, an alarm is generated.

    Flatline Timeout

The maximum about of time (in minutes) that can pass without an analog, a rate, or a flowTotalConfig value changing.
