Administrators can configure certain RealTime database (RTDB) points as "safety-related". Such designation allows Controllers to easily filter these points in the RTDB for reports and identify when a system change affects a safety point.
In addition, Administrators can configure which alarm states associated with a point are the result of a safety-related condition. When a safety-related point enters an alarm state designated as safety-related, the following summary windows display this information to the Controller:
-
Aggregate Events Summary window
-
Operational Activities Summary window
-
Alarm Summary window
-
New Alarm Summary window
The main driver for safety-related points is the PHMSA CRM rule for Oil and Gas pipelines (see https://www.phmsa.dot.gov/pipeline/control-room-management/control-room-management and https://www.phmsa.dot.gov/regulations/title49/b/2/1).
Administrators can configure the following RTDB points as safety-related:
-
Analog
-
Rate
-
Status
-
Multistate
-
RTString
-
FlowTotalConfig
