Note: In the following procedure, a status point is used as an example. The procedure is the same for multistate points. The Alarming tab in the status Row Edit dialog box is opened through the status table listing in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). For general information on ADE, and further information on the status table, refer to the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation and RealTime tables, respectively.
To configure status and multistate points
-
Navigate to the Alarming tab in the status Row Edit dialog box.

-
To enable the record for email alarm notification, select Enable Email Notification.
-
If alarms associated with this point are AVEVA Enterprise SCADA-related alarms, select Alternate Email Subject.
When selected, the subject line of email messages sent to defined recipients comes from the "emailSubject" application record (refer to Configure an application point for AVEVA Enterprise SCADA emails). If the "emailSubject" application record does not exist, the subject line defaults to "SCADA Alarm".
When not selected, the subject line comes from the "emailMeaSubject" application record (refer to Configure an application point for measurement emails). If the "emailMeaSubject" application record does not exist, the subject line defaults to "Measurement Alarm".
-
In the Email Alert Group field, enter or select the name of the alertGroup record containing the users who will receive messages about alarms associated with this point.
-
(Optional) In the Adhoc Email Body Text field, enter an additional message to add to the system-generated email message.
-
In the Minimum Alert Severity field, do one of the following:
-
Select a minimum alert severity.
The application sends an email message when an alarm's severity level is equal to, or greater than, the Minimum Alert Severity. No message is sent when an alarm's severity level is below the Minimum Alert Severity.
-
Select none to disable this field.
Note: The system excludes Return-to-Normal alarms from the minimum alert severity filter.
-
-
To generate an email message in the event of a Return-to-Normal alarm, select yes in the Return to Normal Alarms field.
-
To generate an email message in the event of any change of state, select yes in the Enable COS Notification field.
-
To generate an email message in the event of a change to an abnormal state, select yes in the Abnormal State Alarms field.
For multistate points, the state selected as an Instrument Failure state is considered abnormal even when it is not configured for abnormal state alarming.
