Thread management

Operations that take longer to complete can be spun off into a different thread by the Application Calculation Engine (ACE).
However, you must be careful to manage the threads your ACE code (acecode) creates. It is possible that the ACE will continue to spawn threads until the process must shut down, or the RealTime server fails. ACE is not aware of any threads that are currently executing; therefore, thread management must be performed when you write acecode. Extreme caution should be used when spawning threads from the ACE, because it does not monitor these threads and it will not know which ACE Configuration (aceconfig) records to disable if problems arise. Although the ACE can launch external executables and scripts, be cautious when triggering such operations with the ACE routines.
