While the parent point is in a predefined state, you can trigger the timer count on a child point state change and suppress the child point for a configured amount of time.

To configure a child alarm holdoff for a specific parent state

  1. Navigate to the Main tab in the almsuppression Row Details dialog box.

    Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

  2. Select Enable Alarm Holdoff Only for Specified Parent State.

Note: If Enable Alarm Holdoff Only for Specified Parent State is selected, but a parent point alarm state has not been entered in the Alarm State field, the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) defaults to the first state in the message set.

  3. In the Alarm State field, enter the parent point alarm state for in-alarm suppression.

  4. In the Timeouts (in Seconds) > Alarm Holdoff field, enter the timeout (in seconds).

The Alarm Holdoff timeout value will suppress child alarms when the parent point is in the specified Alarm State, starting at the time the child enters the specified alarm state.

Child alarms are not suppressed when the parent point is not in the specified Alarm State.

Note: The Enable Alarm Holdoff Only for Specified Parent State setting can be used in conjunction with the Child Point Suppression State settings if only one specific child state should be suppressed.
