DPdirect fails to connect

Note: For information on overriding default configuration settings, see Modify configuration settings.

When DPdirect processes fail to connect through Remote Client Service (RCS), Datapump in turn fails to successfully transfer historical data to its destination. Error messages such as the following appear in the DPdirect logs:

DPMSDALConnection::Connect: Could not connect to DAL ESQL Connection

This issue occurs when the default RCS connection timeout of three seconds is too short. Follow the procedure below to modify the timeout value of the RCSConnectTimeout key so that processes have more time to connect.

To increase the RCS connection timeout value

  1. Navigate to %DNADataRoot%\Historical\config\Settings.

  2. Create or open the CoreSDK.json file.

  3. In the following object, change the integer value of the RCSConnectTimeout key to the desired value (in seconds):

    {

    "CoreSDK": {

    "RCSConnectTimeout": 5

    }

    }

  4. Restart the Historical service to apply the change.
