Inputs and outputs

Inputs are specified through the Application Calculation Engine Configuration (aceconfig) records in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). There are three types of inputs that can be used in an aceconfig record: constants, RealTime paths, and PubSub topics. All three inputs require a numeric value to work in the ACE calculation. ACE uses the last known value for Path and PubSub inputs. When an ACE routine is given a RealTime path as an input, the resulting calculation can automatically set the fresh/stale state of the output based on the fresh/stale state of the input parameters.
The ACE code (acecode) takes the inputs from aceconfig records, and executes the routine as specified by its equations. The output point for an aceconfig record can be any database point where the table contains at least one writable field. Outputs can be derived from equations as simple as output = input1 + input2.
