The Trend Indicator enables the Administrator to configure and fine-tune the trending direction of the point's processed value and filter momentary jumps or noise in that trending value. The Trend Indicator is available for analog and rate points only.
This feature enables Display Builders to create graphical objects that visually represent the trending direction of a point with applied filters to improve the Controller’s situational awareness of the point's processed value trending.
The value of the Trend Indicator is calculated as the difference between two filtered values that is multiplied by a scaling factor. The two filtered values (HighSpeedFilteredValue and LowSpeedFilteredValue) are calculated by passing the point's processed value through a First-Order Logarithmic filter. Each filter from the below equation is configured with two different coefficients that determines the responsiveness of each filter. Typically, configuration of the coefficients is configured between 0 and 1, where a value configured closer to zero (0) results in a slow responding filter and higher smoothing, and a value closer to one (1) yields a responsive filter with almost no smoothing applied.
Note: Based on the following formula, each coefficient (HSC and LSC) must not be equal.
HighSpeedFilteredValuen = HSC * eguValue + (1 – HSC) * HighSpeedFilteredValue(n – 1)
LowSpeedFilteredValuen = LSC * eguValue + (1 – LSC) * LowSpeedFilteredValue(n – 1)
TrendIndicator = (HighSpeedFilteredValuen – LowSpeedFilteredValuen) * Scaling
Where:
-
n is the iteration of the function.
-
HSC is the high-speed coefficient (floating point).
-
LSC is the low-speed coefficient (floating point).
-
Scaling is the output scaling factor (floating point).
By default, the value for the Trend Indicator is calculated every minute when the point is Fresh (good data quality). If a point is in a manual override state or communications are lost, the calculation is suspended until the data quality is restored (Fresh).
To configure the time interval
-
Navigate to the %DNADataRoot%/Realtime/config/Settings/RealTime_SmoothTrendIndicatorMonitor.json file.
-
Using the SmoothTrendIndicatorInterval key, configure the desired interval value.
Note: The interval value must be defined in seconds or minutes in a hh:mm:ss format, and the value must be divisor of 60 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30). For example: "00:00:30", "00:02:00".
