To filter database alarms by keyphrases

Use the EmailDBAlmCfg Row Edit dialog box to create a list of keyphrases by which to filter database alarms. For every database alarm, the application will only send an email if it finds a keyphrase match in the alarm message.

Refer to the table below for field descriptions and instructions on how to configure the editable fields.

Notes: If any keyphrase (for example, Failover) is used to to capture the relevant system alarms during a failover operation, increasing the value of the ArbRtsFailoverDelayMS key may be required so that the system is allowed to complete alarm replication prior to the failover in a larger time frame. This minimizes the loss of alarms during the system transition period. If the ArbRtsFailoverDelayMS key cannot be found in %DNADataRoot%\RealTime\config\Settings, you will need to create a new .json file for this key, or add it to an existing settings file (for example, RealTime.json).

By default, ArbRtsFailoverDelayMS is set to 1. You can change this number to a suitable value based on the frequency of alarms being generated in the system. The value of 5 is recommended for most projects. For example:

{
"RealTime": {
"ArbRtsFailoverDelayMS ": 5
}
}

Item

Description

Name

Enter a unique name for the database keyphrase email filter.

Description

Enter a brief description of the database keyphrase email filter.

Alert Group

Enter or select the name of the alert group (alertGroup record) containing the users to whom the application sends email messages.

Station

Select if the following appears in the Alarm DB Filter field:

  • The name of a RealTime database (RTDB) table that does not have a station field, or

  • none

    Tables with station fields remain associated with their configured station, rather than the one selected in this field.

If the application finds a keyphrase match, all on-call contacts associated with the station receive either an email, or, if using a customer-supplied email to a Short Message System (SMS) gateway, a text message.

For further information, refer to On Call.

Search Point Description

Select to perform a keyphrase search in both the alarm message and the description field text associated with the point in alarm. If the keyphrase appears in either location, or both, the application sends an email message.

If not selected, the keyphrase search is only performed on the alarm message.

Enable Alert

Select to enable the database email alarm filter.

Alarm DB Filter

To limit the keyphrase filter search to alarms associated with a particular database table, select the table from the list of tables that currently exist in the system.

  • none – select this option to have the application send an email message if all listed keyphrases appear in any generated database alarm.

Keyphrases (AND filter)

Enter the keyphrases to search for in database alarms.

Note: The system matches entire phrases (with spaces between words) if more than one word appears in a row.
