RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) Player configuration

The RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) Player is an application used to connect a simulated production SCADA system to a model emulating a real pipeline. This allows a Trainee to experience real-life operating scenarios without affecting real pipeline assets.
The RTU Player uses more resources than other simulators (for example, modsim) when simulating polling of larger data sets. This can cause instability in the application if it is attempting to respond to a very high number of polls for the connections from Omnicomm. In these cases, multiple simulators should be configured to simulate a sub-set of remotes to prevent Omnicomm endlessly attempting to reconnect.
The following RTU Player configuration parameter can be used if you experience connection drops from Omnicomm (that is, Omnicomm is too slow to respond). This configuration parameter is located in the RTUPlayer.json file located by default in the %DNAInstallRoot%\Tools\config\Settings folder.

The SocketPollResponseTimeout is the time to wait for a response from Omnicomm. Increasing the value can improve connection stability.
