Configure automatic bracketing suspension

This procedure involves creating an almbracsetsuspension record to make the system automatically suspend bracketing on an alarm bracket set when a Controller executes a setpoint or digital command operation against a specific analog, status, or multistate point.

Notes: If a point belongs to more than one alarm bracket set, the application suppresses alarms on the former anytime the system suspends bracketing on one of the associated alarm bracket sets.

The process responsible for suspending bracketing, "AlarmBracketingPSManager", compares a setpoint value against the current value of an analog point. If communication between the host and remote devices is especially fast, a setpoint operation may quickly change the current value of an analog point before the process has a chance to compare the two values. In such a scenario, the process fails to register the setpoint operation and no bracketing suspension occurs. Generally, however, this is not an issue on a production system with normal communication speeds.

Almbracsetsuspension records are stored in the almbracsetsuspension table, and are created and edited using the almbracsetsuspension Row Details dialog box within Advanced Database Editor (ADE). For general information on ADE and how to create records, refer to the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation.

To configure automatic bracketing suspension

  1. In ADE, select View > Realtime.

  2. Double-click the Alarm Bracket Set - Suspension Trigger Detail table.

The almbracsetsuspension Table Edit dialog box opens.

  3. Refer to Almbracsetsuspension Row Details for information on configuring the almbracsetsuspension Row Edit dialog box.
