Use the Main tab in the rtstring Row Edit dialog box to configure basic properties of the point. Refer to the table below for field descriptions and instructions on how to configure the editable fields.

Item

Description

Name

Enter the name of the new record.

Note: If you want to edit an existing record, select (...) and select the name of the rtstring record from the Rtstring Select dialog box.

Description

Enter a description of the record. The Description can be up to 47 characters in length. This field is for information purposes only and can be used to describe the record, its association with other points, or any other textual information. The Name and Description configured for a record appear in the summary tables in easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS).

Commissioning Required

Select the Commissioning Required checkbox when the point is ready to be commissioned. When this checkbox is selected, the point will appear in the Point Verification Summary. This checkbox will be cleared after the point has been commissioned.

Point Type

Select the type of point that this record is representing. The choices are:

  • telemetered — The record represents an actual measuring device. If this is selected, you must configure the Remote field and specify which remote record the device is associated with. Telemetered data is only fresh when there is good connectivity to the point’s associated remote and the telemetered value has not been manually overridden.

  • manual entry — The record uses a fixed, manually entered value that has no associated measuring device. The value you want to use must be entered using the manual override on the Analog Control dialog box or Multistate Control dialog box (refer to the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA HMI Controller documentation). This data is always fresh.

  • calculated — The analog value is computed by an application. For instance, an Application Calculation Engine (ACE) config (aceconfig) record might be defined with this analog or multistate record as its output point. If a control routine is desired, only the aceconfig and ACE code (acecode) records need to be defined. There will not be an associated output calculated point (that is, no analog or multistate point). These points are fresh if the calculation routine has successfully run and all or some (configurable) input parameters are fresh and the calculated value has not been manually overridden.

Group

Select (...), and select the name of the group this record belongs to from the Group Select dialog box. Groups are assigned to closely related records.

Remote

Select (...), and select the name of the associated remote.

Station

Select (...), and select the name of the station you want to associate with this record from the Station Select dialog box.

For further information on Station Monitoring, refer to volume 1 of the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA RealTime Administrator documentation.

Point Class

The Point Class category contains multiple configuration enumerations used for categorical configuration of points.

For further information, refer to volume 1 of the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA RealTime Administrator documentation.

Point SubClass

Point Sub Class is a configurable enumeration category used for categorical configurations, but you cannot use this for configurable alarms and events.

For further information, refer to volume 1 of the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA RealTime Administrator documentation.

Dataset

Select (...), and select the name of the dataset you want to associate with this record from the Dataset Select dialog box.

A dataset contains privileges assigned for each system and mode. Once a record is assigned to a data set value, the dataset can only be changed to a value for which the system has a privilege record. A record’s dataset can not be changed in such a way that the system can no longer access the record.

Base Message

Select (...), and select the message associated with the record from the Message Select dialog box.

Short Description

Enter a brief description of the record.

Well Unit

Specify the name of the well associated with this record.

Mapping Flag

Enter the 32-bit integer value to map this point to a non-AVEVA Enterprise SCADA system.

Priority Display

Specify the graphic you want to be associated with the priority display button on an easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS) control dialog box.

Display Order

Specify the order of the record on the display.

Enable Value Change Events

Select this checkbox to generate an event when the current value changes.
