Administrators can configure rate records with a "Hold-Off" time, which specifies the length of time in minutes that the system should suppress a generated Rate Reasonability alarm.
Note: As described below in Rate Reasonability alarm suppression cancellation, the system may cancel alarm suppression under certain conditions.
When a flow rate exceeds a rate record's configured reasonability limit, and a configured "Hold-Off" time exists for the record, AVEVA Enterprise SCADA logs an event with the following message:
Reasonability alarm suppressed for <Hold-Off Time> minute(s).

Note: Refer to the following list in regards to the Rate Summary window and the Rate Control dialog box:
-
The rate point is in an alarm state, but the alarm is not flashing.
-
The displayed flow rate is the last good flow rate, not the flow rate that exceeded the reasonability limit and led to the alarm condition.
-
The "Error" data quality indicator appears.
-
The state of the point is "REASONABILITY".
Note: On any one of the various alarm summary windows, the Reasonability alarm message does not appear.

The Operational Activities Summary window displays:
-
The Reasonability alarm suppression message.
-
The Reasonability alarm message.
