You can run the Open Platform Communications (OPC) client window service either as a local system or a network.
In general, if both the OPC client service and the OPC server are installed on the same computer, they will run without any problem. However, if the OPC server is configured by DCOM configuration tools, ensure that the account type of the OPC client can access and launch the OPC Server. The following table describes the account types:
|
Account Type |
Description |
|---|---|
|
LocalSystem |
This account type acts as a non-privileged user on the local computer and presents anonymous credentials to any remote server. |
|
User |
This account type is defined by a specific user on the network. Consult your System Administrators or IT specialists for user privileges and security settings. |
