RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) Composer

The RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) Composer is a Windows application used to create XML configuration files for the RTU Player. When started with this configuration file, the RTU Player can simulate a set of field devices that would exist on a pipeline. Upon RTU selection:

• The analogs, digitals, rates, commands, and strings associated with the RTU are retrieved by the RTU Composer from the RealTime database (RTDB).

• The RTU points are assigned Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) model tags. This assignment can be done manually or by applying a Naming Rules Plugin, which automatically configures the model tag. The SPS model tag association allows the RTU Player to return a modeled value for the telemetered point.
