Configure startup and shutdown

Configure the DPdirect processes for replicating data between systems, and to associate the startup and shutdown scripts with the Historical service.

To configure startup and shutdown

  1. Copy DPstartup.csc from %DNAInstallRoot%\Historical\scripts to %DNADataRoot%\Historical\scripts to add source and destination system information.

    If a clustered server or availability group has been configured on the system, specify the source (src) and destination (dst) with the appropriate clustered server or availability group listener names.

    The following sample code included in the file illustrates how to configure the startup for a clustered server MAINSQLSVR:

    if (thisHost == "MAIN64SVR1" || thisHost == "MAIN64SVR2")

    {

    // To UNTRUSTED SUB

    dpSystem = "sub";

    src = ":MS:MAINSQLSVR\\OASYSHDB";

    dst = String.Format("{0}:MSDAL:Dir=sub\\remote_RCS_XFER;Alias=Historical_XFER", dpSystem);

    dpGroup = "DEFAULT";

    logFile = String.Format("DPdirect_{0}_{1}.log", dpGroup, dpSystem);

    dpDirectArgs.Add(String.Format("-i 40 -S {0} -D {1} {2} -Z \"{3}\" -C \"DPGroup = '{4}' \" ",

    src, dst, dataHoppingArgs, logFile, dpGroup));

    logFiles.Add(logFile);

    // to BCC

    dpSystem = "BCC";

    src = ":MS: MAINSQLSVR \\OASYSHDB";

    dst = String.Format("{0}:MS:BCCMSSQL\\OASYSHDB", dpSystem);

    dpGroup = "DEFAULT";

    logFile = String.Format("DPdirect_{0}_{1}.log", dpGroup, dpSystem);

    // uncomment to enable data hopping, installdp5<dbName> scripts

    // must be installed on the destination

    // dataHoppingArgs = "-E _ -e H";

    dpDirectArgs.Add(String.Format("-i 40 -S {0} -D {1} {2} -Z \"{3}\" -C \"DPGroup = '{4}' \" ",

    src, dst, dataHoppingArgs, logFile, dpGroup));

    logFiles.Add(logFile);

  2. Copy DPshutdown.csc from %DNAInstallRoot%\Historical\scripts to %DNADataRoot%\Historical\scripts. If DPdirect is not running on the Historical service, you must replace Historical with the appropriate service:

    String args = " -s Historical -k -i " + proc.Id;

  3. Copy the datapump assert and stand_down scripts to the desired service script directory. The %DNAInstallRoot%\Historical\scripts\Datapump\Datapump.assert.csc and Datapump.stand_down.csc files should be copied into the script directory for the service that will start and stop Datapump (e.g. %DNADataRoot%\Historical\scripts\Historical).
