Rtstring Row Edit: Output tab

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 2 minute read

Use the Output tab to configure rtstring output commands. This tab allows you to define the details of an output such as string length, frequency, and command timeout.

Refer to the table below for field descriptions and instructions on how to configure the editable fields.

Item

Description

Has Output

Select to configure output commands.

Output Coordinates

Enter the coordinates where the data is mapped within the remote. This mapping depends on the protocol used.

Some protocols use registers to allocate data in remote memory, others use a definition of the point or file number for access. Representative data mappings and point configuration are described for various protocols in volume 1 of the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA RealTime Administrator documentation. Refer to your specific remote or protocol documentation for a definition of the data mappings and to determine the remote’s input/output data location in memory.

If you are using Modbus, you must define poll ranges that cover the input/output records before configuring the input and output coordinates.

String Length

Enter the number of characters in the string.

Type

Enter the poll type.

Frequency

Enter the time it takes to feedback scan (duration).

Interval (sec)

Enter the time (in seconds) between each scan.

Ignore Command Feedback

Select the checkbox to ignore any command feedback results. When selected, no command warning tags will be placed on the point and no command timeout alarms will be generated after an output command. The settings for Command Timeout and Log Command Success will be ignored.

Command Timeout

Enter the timeout (in seconds) after which the system generates a command failure alarm for a value that is still not within the setpoint tolerance limits.

If a point has been configured as having both inputs and outputs, this value should be greater than 0. If a point has been configured as having only output, this value should be 0.

Log Command Success

Select to have the system record successful commands in the event log. Unsuccessful commands always generate alarms and are logged whether or not this checkbox is selected.
