To control the level of output displayed in the console
-
Set the level for the "ConsoleLogger" in the <log4net> <logger> section of the RTUPlayer.log4net.xml file.
By default, the level is set to INFO (as shown in the example). This setting will provide basic feedback to the console of actions occurring in the application.
<root>
<level value="ERROR" />
<appender-ref ref="rollingfile" />
</root>
<logger name="ConsoleLogger">
<level value="INFO" />
<appender-ref ref="console" />
<appender-ref ref="consolerollingfile" />
</logger>
-
Optional: Set the level of output to be displayed on the console by changing the value with additional settings. The hierarchy for the level of output is as follows:
-
"FATAL" — This is the lowest level of output and will only show fatal exception related messaging.
-
"ERROR" — This provides similar output to the "FATAL" level but may include more information related to errors occurring.
-
"WARN" — This provides the information of the previous two levels ("ERROR" and "FATAL"), plus additional warning messages encountered.
-
"INFO" — This provides information related to normal behavior for the application, plus any "FATAL", "ERROR", or "WARN" messages.
-
"DEBUG" — This provides extended information related to the applications operation, plus any messages in the previous levels.
Note: Setting the console log settings to a higher level than "INFO" is not recommended. Messages may flood the console resulting in significant scrolling and an inability to read any messages.
