You can configure the severity of the alarm and change the message text associated with certain alarm conditions for a specific subset of points by creating a new msgInfo set. You can then associate different severities and messages for different points for the same alarm condition.

To create a new msgInfo set

  1. Open the Advanced Database Editor (ADE), and locate the msgInfo Set listing.

  2. Expand the msgInfo Set: Base grouping.

  3. Double-click the msgInfo table.

The msgInfo Table Edit dialog box appears.

  4. From the Base msgInfo Set listing, copy the alarm condition text from the Name column, which will be included in the new msgInfo set.

  5. From the Functions menu, select Create New Record.

The Create New Record dialog box appears.

  6. In the Name field, paste the copied alarm condition text from the record in the base msgInfo set to identify the alarm condition to configure.

  7. In the Message Info Set field, enter a new name for the msgInfo set grouping.

Notes: The Message Info Set field is used to link the set of alarm condition records within it to a specific Point Class.

The base msgInfo set will be used for alarms that are not associated with a specific point.

  8. Select Accept.

A prompt to configure the new record appears.

  9. Select Yes to configure the record.

The msgInfo Row Edit dialog box appears with the Name, Set Name, and Set And Name fields populated with the data you entered when you created the record.

Note: Selecting the Use Assembly checkbox indicates the alarm severity and message text will be read from a compiled resource assembly. You will need to provide the .dll file and the associated resource. The base msgInfo set records contain this information and does not need to be duplicated for the alarm condition in the new msgInfo set.

  10. In the Message Text field, enter the specific alarm condition message text.

Note: The message text must not contain more arguments ({x}) than specified in the original baseline msgInfo set record for the same alarm condition.

  11. Select a Severity for the alarm condition.

  12. Close the msgInfo Row Edit dialog box, and save the record when prompted.

Note: You can add additional records to existing msgInfo sets by creating records with the same Set Name for the required alarm conditions.
