Process data into the RealTime database (RTDB)

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 2 minute read

The Open Platform Communications (OPC) Server can be used to process field data into the RealTime database (RTDB) by writing to the value_override field of the point. Writing data to value_override will cause the data to pass through the data processing engine as though the data was collected from a field device using omnicomm. Standard processing features against the point will be applied, such as Alarm Limit checking and Historical data collection.

Notes: Although it is possible to have a data value processed into a telemetered point, this should only be used for manual or calculated points.

If a point is configured to be able to send commands (that is, output is enabled), the data value written to value_override will be rejected.

Point Type

Data Type of the value_override field

Description

RTString

longstring

Values will be processed into the curval field. The maximum string length is 255 characters. If the string exceeds the maximum length, it will be rejected.

status

msgstring

Value must match one of the STATE values in the message set for the point. If a matching state is found, the corresponding state integer value will be processed into the cursta field. The maximum string length is 15 characters. If the string exceeds the maximum length, it will be rejected. If the state is represented by an integer value, write directly to the cursta field.

multistate

msgstring

Value must match one of the STATE values in the message set for the point. If a matching state is found, the corresponding state integer value will be processed into the inputCurRaw field. The maximum string length is 15 characters. If the string exceeds the maximum length, it will be rejected. If the state is represented by an integer value, write directly to the inputCurRaw field.
