Deploy reports using DNA DeployRSUtil

Note: You must have Report Administrator permissions to use this tool.

The DNADeployRSUtil tool is used to deploy reports or data sources to a report server.

To deploy reports using the DNADeploy RSUtil

  1. Double-click the Windows PowerShell for DNA shortcut on the desktop.

    Windows PowerShell for DNA opens.

  2. Execute the following commands:

    set-silo Historical

    DNADeployRSUtil -h -s <report server> [-i <deployment file>][-f <file path> -p <parent path>][-d <file directory> -p <parent path>][-u <domain\\username> -w <password>]

    Where:

    • -h is an optional parameter that will display the usage information.

    • -s <report server> is the name of the report server.

    • -i <deployment file> specifies the location of the deployment file.

    • -f <file path> specifies the location of the file being deployed.

    • -p <parent path> specifies the location of the parent folder in the report server.

    • -d <file directory> specifies the location of all files being deployed.

    • -u <domain\username> is the domain name and user name login information for the report server.

    • -w <password> is the password to login to the report server.

      Notes: In most project systems, report web servers are set up using Windows authentication. If this is the case for your report web server then the user name and password must be provided to run DNADeployRSUTIL.

      If a relative path is used when specifying the <file path> or <file directory>, the ReportDefinition settings value (in ReportingServices.json) is used to find the location of the file or folder. If this is not desired, use the full path to the file or folder you wish to deploy.

There are three ways to deploy a report in DNADeployRSUtil, this means that ONE of these parameters must be specified in the command:

  • -f <file path>

  • -d <file directory>

  • -i <deployment file>

Deployment file format

If you are deploying a report using the -i parameter, then DNADeployRSUtil will uses a deployment file to specify the report files to be deployed.The deployment file needs to be created before you execute the command, and needs to be in the following format:

<Setup>

<RSDeploy parent="**parent folder of report server**">

<Item type="File">**report file relative path**</Item>

<Item type="Folder">**report folder relative path**</Item>

...

</RSDeploy>

...

</Setup>

Where

<Item type="File"> specifies that the item that needs to be deployed is a file (use to deploy a single report file or a single data source file).

<item type="Folder"> specifies that the item that needs to be deployed is a folder (use to deploy an entire folder).

Note: If a relative path is used when specifying the "File" or "Folder", the ReportDefinition settings value (in ReportingServices.json) is used to find the location of the file or folder. If this is not desired, use the full path to the file or folder you wish to deploy.

Example Deployment File

<Setup>

<RSDeploy parent="/report sample1">

<Item type="File">SCADA\custom\ReportSample1.rdl</Item>

<Item type="Folder">SCADA\baseline\ReportSampleFolder</Item>

</RSDeploy>

<RSDeploy parent="/report sample1/report sample2">

<Item type="File">SCADA\custom\ReportSample2.rdl</Item>

</RSDeploy>

</Setup>
