Note: In the following procedure, an analog point is used as an example. The procedure is the same for rate and tank points. The Alarming tab in the analog Row Edit dialog box is opened through the analog table listing in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). For general information on ADE, and further information on the analog table, refer to the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation and RealTime tables, respectively.
To configure analog, rate, and tank points
-
Navigate to the Alarming tab in the analog Row Edit dialog box.

-
To enable the record for email alarm notification, select Enable Email Notification.
-
If alarms associated with this point are AVEVA Enterprise SCADA-related alarms, select Alternate Email Subject.
When selected, the subject line of email messages sent to defined recipients comes from the "emailSubject" application record (refer to Configure an application point for AVEVA Enterprise SCADA emails). If the "emailSubject" application record does not exist, the subject line defaults to "SCADA Alarm".
When not selected, the subject line comes from the "emailMeaSubject" application record (refer to Configure an application point for measurement emails). If the "emailMeaSubject" application record does not exist, the subject line defaults to "Measurement Alarm".
-
In the Email Alert Group field, enter or select the name of the alertGroup record containing the users who will receive messages about alarms associated with this point.
-
In the Minimum Alert Severity field, do one of the following:
-
Select a minimum alert severity.
The application sends an email message when an alarm's severity level is equal to, or greater than, the Minimum Alert Severity. No message is sent when an alarm's severity level is below the Minimum Alert Severity.
-
Select none to disable this field.
Note: The system excludes return-to-normal alarms from the minimum alert severity filter.
-
-
In the following fields, select yes for the types of alarms that will generate email messages:
Note: The e-mail alarm notification process uses the message of the alarms to identify Flatline and Return to Normal alarms. The text of these alarms can be customized in KRN_FLATLINE_RTN (located in the krunchStrings.resx file). It's important to note that this text contains a period (.) that cannot be removed. The period is required when you customize or translate the alarm, and it is used to search for the text surrounding the period.

If you select yes for All Off-Normal Alarms:
-
All the following off-normal alarm fields become unavailable.
-
The system sends out emails for all off-normal alarm conditions, regardless of individual off-normal alarm settings.
Note: Alarm severity levels for analog points are configured in the message records associated with each analog record. Since Administrators can associate different message records with different analog records, the severity levels associated with certain alarms can vary from point to point. For example, assume that MessageRecord1 associated with AnalogRecord1 defines a High-High alarm as being of medium severity, and MessageRecord2 associated with AnalogRecord2 defines a High-High alarm as being of high severity. If Minimum Alert Severity is High, and HiHi is yes, the application only sends email messages for alarms associated with AnalogRecord2.
