Assigning points to a flowTotalConfig point

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 2 minute read

Follow this procedure to configure the points used to calculate the values of a flowTotalConfig point's elements.

FlowTotalJoin records are stored in the flowTotalJoin table, and are created and edited using the flowTotalJoin Row Details dialog box within the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). For general information on ADE and how to create records, refer to the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation.

To assign points to a flowTotalConfig point

  1. Create a new flowTotalJoin record and open the flowTotalJoin Row Details dialog box.

When you create a flowTotalJoin record, the system automatically populates the following field:

    • Flowtotal ID – the name of the associated flowTotalConfig record.

  2. In the Group field, select the name of the group to which this record belongs.

Note: Typically, the selected group should match the one selected for the associated flowTotalConfig record.

  3. In the Dataset field, select the name of the dataset you want to associate with this record.

Notes: Typically, the selected dataset should match the one selected for the associated flowTotalConfig record.

As explained above in Calculation process, rows 0, 1, 2, and 3 in a flowTotalJoin record correspond to elements 0, 1, 2, and 3, respectively, in the flowTotalConfig record whose name appears in the flowTotalJoin record's Flowtotal ID field.

  4. Select Enabled to include this data source in the equation used to arrive at the value of element 0.

  5. In the Operation field for Row 0, select one of the following to either add or subtract the value of the point appearing in the Database Path field to or from the corresponding flowTotalConfig record's element (in this case, element 0):

    • Add (+)

    • Subtract (-)

  6. In the Database Path field, enter or select the path to the point used in calculating the corresponding flowTotalConfig record's element value.

  7. (Optional) In the Multiplier field, enter a value by which to multiply the point's value.

  8. Repeat the above steps as desired to configure the points used in the calculation of the remaining elements in the flowTotalConfig record.

  9. (Optional) To add additional constants used in the calculation of a flowTotalConfig record's elements:

    1. Create another new flowTotalJoin record.

    2. In the Flowtotal ID field of the new record, enter or select the name of the flowTotalConfig record whose name appears in the Flowtotal ID field of the first record created above (in our example, "almRollupFT1").

    3. Configure the new flowTotalJoin record as per Steps 5-8 above.

  10. Repeat Step 9 to create the desired number of constants for use in calculating the value of one or more elements.
