Note: An analog point is used as an example in the following procedure. The steps are the same for rate points. The Alarming tab in the analog Row Edit dialog box is opened through the analog table listing in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). For general information on ADE, and further information on the analog table, refer to the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation and RealTime tables, respectively.
To configure analog and rate points
-
Navigate to the Alarming tab on the analog Row Edit dialog box.

-
Select the Enable Email Notification checkbox to enable the record for alert paging notifications.
Note: Alert paging uses the same configuration settings as Email Alarm Notification.
-
In the Email Alert Group field, enter or select the name of the alertGroup record containing the users who will receive messages about alarms associated with this point.
-
In the Minimum Alert Severity field, do one of the following:
-
Select a minimum alert severity.
The application sends an alert paging message when an alarm's severity level is equal to, or greater than, the Minimum Alert Severity. A message is not sent when an alarm's severity level is below the Minimum Alert Severity.
-
Select none to disable this field.
Notes: When none is selected, the system generates alerts for alarms of all severity.
The system excludes return-to-normal alarms from the minimum alert severity filter.
-
-
In the following fields, select yes for the types of alarms that will generate alert paging messages:
-
Return to Normal Alarms:
Proceed as follows to enable the use of return to normal alarming:
-
In the Minimum Alert Severity field, select none.
-
In the Return to Normal Alarms field, select yes.
Note: When no is selected in the Return to Normal Alarms field, a) field personnel will be unable to acknowledge return to normal alarms, and b) the system will immediately annunciate newly generated return to normal alarms, unless otherwise inhibited.

If you select yes for All Off-Normal Alarms:
-
All the following off-normal alarm fields become unavailable.
-
The system sends out emails for all off-normal alarm conditions, regardless of individual off-normal alarm settings.
Note: Alarm severity levels for analog points are configured in the message records associated with each analog record. Since Administrators can associate different message records with different analog records, the severity levels associated with certain alarms can vary from point to point. For example, assume that MessageRecord1 associated with AnalogRecord1 defines a High-High alarm as being of medium severity, and MessageRecord2 associated with AnalogRecord2 defines a High-High alarm as being of high severity. If Minimum Alert Severity is High, and HiHi is yes, the application only sends email messages for alarms associated with AnalogRecord2.

In the Paging Park Time field, enter the amount of time (in minutes) that the Field Operator has to respond to the alarm. After the time expires, the alarm message will become visible to the Controller.
-
In the Paging Retry field, enter the number of retry, or reminder, messages that will be sent on a minutely basis until the Field Operator acknowledges the alarm or the Paging Park Time expires.
The number of configured retries are equally spaced over the length of the Paging Park Time.
-
Select the Annunciated Page field to allow both the Field Operator and Controller to acknowledge the alarm. If this field is selected, the alarm will not be parked and will be visible to the Controller immediately.
