Create custom plugins

Advanced Database Editor (ADE) custom plugins allow you to add additional logic, controls, and features to existing forms without overhauling them. These plugins apply to fields, Row Edit forms, and Table Edit forms.

If the form has defined business rules or logic, you must implement such logic in a .Net Dynamic link library (DLL) that includes the methods that the form will call.

ADE performs the following tasks in this order:

  1. Creates an instance of the form.

  2. Dynamically loads the defined DLL.

  3. Creates and instance of the class.

  4. Displays the form.

If you use plugins for a field, ADE calls the plugin after the field is either created or modified.
