Best practices for editing the attribute table

When editing the attribute table, it's important to understand that the changes made in the attribute table may not be applied immediately to the Control Room Management (CRM) objects shown in a model.

The data attribute icons of a CRM object linked to a point will be refreshed whenever the value of any Field Name configured in the attribute table is changed for that point. This includes the change of the field's values in attributes not assigned to any icon. In addition, if sevint or alarm are configured as field names in any record in the attribute table, the changes of flag.cmsg and flag.flash will also lead to a refresh of data attribute icons.

However, if you add a new record to the attribute table that uses a field name that was not previously used in the attribute table, the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA BLTHost ServiceFoundation and all layered products that may change the RealTime database (RTDB) must be restarted. This ensures that the attribute described in that record is taken into account in the presentation of the data attribute icons.

In order to prevent RealTime failovers and to apply the configuration of new records, it is recommended that you define records for all fields that you anticipate will be used, and then assign attributes to icons as required.
