Alarms and events

Alarms and events are used to announce and record important activities within the system. There are several configuration options that allow you to set conditions for the generation and logging of alarms and events.

An event is a record of conditions and activity within the system. The event history provides a chronological record of changes in the system’s condition, as well as actions taken by system users over time. An alarm is used to announce a significant event that requires a Controller’s immediate attention. The generation of an alarm also creates a corresponding event record. However, the generation of an event does not necessarily create a corresponding alarm.

You can configure conditions for the following:

  • Generation of alarms

  • Annunciation and display of alarms

  • Suppression of alarms by conditions in other related records

  • Printing of event logs
