Modifying your report can be done at anytime after report creation. Adding new parameters allows you to specify additional criteria that you would like as part of the report. In the following example we add a filter for the connection name.
To add a parameter
-
In Microsoft Visual Studio, navigate to the Report Data pane > Parameters.

-
Right-click the Parameters folder and select Add Parameter.
The Report Parameter Properties dialog box appears.

-
In the Report Parameters dialog box:
-
In the Name field, enter a name for the parameter.
-
In the Prompt field, enter a prompt for the parameter.
-
Select OK.
The Report parameters dialog box closes and your new parameter will appear under the Parameters folder in the Report Data pane.

-
-
Expand the Datasets folder, and then right-click your dataset and select Dataset Properties.
The Dataset Properties dialog box appears.

-
Select the Parameters tab.

-
Select Add.
Additional fields will appear.

The Query field will be populated with your new parameter.
