The RealTime Properties tab in the Area of Responsibility (AOR) Area Properties dialog box is opened through the Network Management Console (NMC). For general information on NMC, and further information on configuring AOR area properties, refer to the Tools Administrator documentation.

To add an area to the non-covered alarm check

  1. Navigate to the RealTime Properties tab in the Area of Responsibility (AOR) Area Properties dialog box.

  2. To include this area in the non-covered alarm check, select Enable alarm coverage checking.

As per the default functionality, selecting this checkbox sends non-covered alarms from an area to designated computers. Normally, it is selected unless the area controls insignificant devices, or it duplicates coverage of other areas that have this feature enabled.

  3. In the Alarm coverage check period in seconds field, enter a check-in timeout value.

This allows time for Controllers to change shift without generating spurious alarms. A value of 45 seconds or more is recommended. The default value โ€“ zero โ€“ is invalid.
